To fully unlock the "new vitality of Liwan" in the industry, smooth the key links in transforming high-quality scientific and technological achievements into new quality productive forces, effectively enhance the innovative vitality and core competitiveness of local enterprises in Liwan District, and promote the leapfrog development of the regional industry, the "Intelligent Manufacturing New Vitality · Service Empowers New Capabilities" Liwan District Laser and Additive Manufacturing Industry Enterprise Service Event was successfully held on August 13. Guided by the Bureau of Science, Technology, Industry and Information Technology of Liwan District, Guangzhou, and hosted by the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute, the event arranged a team of senior technology managers to conduct one-on-one technical demand matching with more than 10 enterprises in Liwan's laser and additive manufacturing industry, thoroughly understanding each enterprise's needs and providing professional consulting services.



Among them, in response to the urgent demand for additive manufacturing technology consulting from Guangzhou Wangneng Product Design Co., Ltd., Associate Professor Zhao Wei from Harbin Institute of Technology—who is a member of Academician Leng Jinsong's team and project director of the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute—was specially invited to provide one-on-one precise consulting services for the enterprise.

At the start of the event, Associate Professor Zhao Wei introduced 3D printing technology, 4D printing technology, its applications, and analytical testing methods in a step-by-step manner. Through application videos in biomedicine, smart clothing, programmable structures, and other fields, he vividly explained the application prospects of 4D printing technology, helping the enterprise break through transformation bottlenecks and unlock innovative potential. The participating enterprise found great inspiration from the session.

Subsequently, Professor Zhao detailed the research institute's achievement—the intelligent orthopedic device—and conducted in-depth discussions with Wangneng Company on technical needs such as material performance of medical devices and development of photocurable materials. The research institute's 4D printed intelligent orthopedic device can be worn on limbs, trunks, and other parts of the human body to prevent or correct deformities and other diseases, featuring personalized design and customization. Leveraging its shape memory properties, it enables free adjustment and gradual correction after structural formation, with advantages including precise reduction, rapid production, convenient wearing and removal, and cost-effectiveness. Both parties expressed strong willingness to cooperate.


This event is a concrete practice of the research institute's concept of precise services. In the future, targeting the laser and additive manufacturing industry, the research institute will continue to launch a series of enterprise-benefiting services such as scientific and technological achievement matching activities and enterprise service events.
