In-depth Dialogue Led by Academicians
Decoding New Practices of Technology Empowering Industries
Guangdong is the largest gathering area for the additive manufacturing industry in China, leading the country in terms of industrial scale and the number of enterprises. Guangzhou also boasts distinct advantages in policy support, industrial supporting facilities and talent aggregation. Liwan District has nurtured China's first provincial-level additive manufacturing industry alliance, as well as one of the only three national-level incubators themed on additive manufacturing in China and the only one in Guangdong Province. It takes Guangzhou Laser and Additive Manufacturing Industrial Park as the core area to support industrial development.
The event gathered numerous guests, including government leaders, academicians, experts, enterprise representatives, industry associations and financial institutions. They jointly discussed how to invigorate the industry through innovation, empower growth engines with an ecological circle, and build a highland for China's additive manufacturing industry.
During the roundtable dialogue session, centered on the theme of "Additive Manufacturing Empowers, Intelligent Manufacturing Shapes the Future", Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Leng Jinsong, Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering Dai Jiansheng, representatives from industry associations and enterprises conducted in-depth discussions from multiple perspectives such as AI empowerment, industrial trends and collaborative development.

As an expert in the field of smart materials, Academician Leng Jinsong talked about the important applications and future development directions of additive manufacturing technology in various fields such as high-end manufacturing, medical devices, and aerospace. He pointed out that the integration of the revolution in materials science and additive manufacturing technology will greatly promote the development of high-end manufacturing. Smart materials will further advance the in-depth integration of additive manufacturing technology with traditional manufacturing, helping Liwan District of Guangzhou build an advanced manufacturing cluster with national influence.

Focusing on his research direction of robotics technology, Academician Dai Jiansheng stated that additive manufacturing technology has created new possibilities for robots, such as flexible deformation and online detection. It not only shows the future development trend of robotics technology, but also in turn empowers additive manufacturing technology.

As a representative of the industry association, Guo Dan demonstrated the rapid development and global leading status of China's additive manufacturing industry with data, and emphasized the importance of the collaborative innovation of industry, academia, research and application.

As an enterprise representative, Yang Xiaoguang shared the application of additive manufacturing technology by Guangzhou Industrial Investment Holdings Group in fields such as high-end equipment and auto parts. As a leading enterprise in Liwan District's industrial chain, the group has set up a special fund to invest in cutting-edge production technologies, so as to support the development of the additive manufacturing industry in Guangzhou. It will also integrate additive manufacturing technology into the layout of future industries and strategic emerging industries.

Deng Di highlighted the close connection and application potential between AI technology and the additive manufacturing field. He analyzed the advantages of the "AI + additive manufacturing technology" in all links of the manufacturing process, which can improve the quality and efficiency of production and manufacturing.
