The event invited members from Academician Jinsong Leng's team, Associate Professor Zhao Wei from Harbin Institute of Technology, as well as representatives from multiple additive manufacturing enterprises including Kepa Electronics, Jiehe Electronics, and Jinyun Electronics. They exchanged ideas and conducted discussions focusing on technological breakthroughs, scenario applications, and achievement transformation in additive manufacturing, exploring the future innovative development space of this field.

The purpose of this event is to strengthen the supply - demand communication among upstream and downstream sectors in the additive manufacturing industrial chain. At present, Liwan District has set up a special working group for the development of the laser and additive manufacturing industry, introduced Academician Jinsong Leng's team, and co - established the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute, aiming to provide technical breakthrough support for the industry's development. This event has laid the foundation for long - term cooperation between numerous enterprises and scientific research institutions, and will gradually establish an innovation chain featuring the transformation of additive manufacturing technological achievements and the coordinated development of the industrial ecosystem.

Empowering with Technology: Building Platforms to Promote Achievement Transformation

Guo Yongqiang, Vice President of the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute, extended a warm welcome to all participants and introduced the Research Institute in detail. The Institute is committed to making breakthroughs in key technologies in the additive manufacturing field and accelerating the transformation and industrialization of technological achievements. Currently, it has been continuously carrying out innovative R&D and technological tackling in such directions as intelligent sensing and actuator materials, multi - functional nanocomposites, biocompatible intelligent materials and their applications in the medical field, 4D printing technology, flexible humanoid robots, and intelligent deformable structures.

Meanwhile, Vice President Guo stated that relying on its own technological R&D capabilities, the Institute will build a diversified cooperation platform to continuously provide professional services including technical consulting, technical breakthroughs, and the connection of industry - university - research cooperation. It will also work closely with the Liwan District Government to improve the industrial ecosystem and empower the development of the additive manufacturing industry in Liwan District.

Project Promotion:

Forging a New Future for the Industry

In the keynote sharing session, Associate Professor Zhao first elaborated on the comparison of mainstream 3D printing technologies such as Stereo Lithography Appearance (SLA) and Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM). He pointed out that the difference between 4D printing and 3D printing lies in the use of intelligent materials. These materials can change their shapes under external stimuli like heat, light, electricity, and magnetism, enabling the integration of material, structure, function, and manufacturing. They possess functions such as self - actuation, self - adaptation, self - diagnosis, self - repair, and self - supply.

Professor Zhao will give a thematic presentation

Subsequently, he gave a special promotion on the scientific research achievements, technical services, and application cases in the additive manufacturing field. For example, the applications of shape - memory polymers (a type of intelligent material) in biomedicine, smart clothing, programmable structures, and other fields have demonstrated tremendous development potential.

The technological achievements of his team include 4D - printed devices such as degradable cardiac occluders, adaptive lumen stents, and deformable bone stents. These devices can be implanted through minimally invasive surgery, realizing in - vivo degradation and reducing severe complications like tissue abrasion.

Focusing on Demands:

Extending Olive Branches for Cooperation

At the event, representatives of participating enterprises put forward their respective corporate needs one after another.
Representative from Kepa Electronics: Hopes to carry out in - depth cooperation with the Research Institute in the introduction of material technologies and the commercialization of technology - integrated products.
Representative from Jiehe Electronics: Has an urgent demand for the development of brand - new high - viscosity photosensitive resin materials and also expresses expectations for sharing the laboratory equipment of the Research Institute.
Representative from Jinyun Electronics: Shows strong interest in the shape - memory materials developed by the Research Institute and expects to cooperate with the Institute in the industrial promotion of these materials.
Jiande Denture, a downstream enterprise in the additive manufacturing industry, stated that it has been benefiting from the industry's development and hopes to gain a better understanding of the additive manufacturing sector through participating in such exchange events.
In his summary, Associate Professor Zhao noted that in response to the demands put forward by the enterprises, the Research Institute can expand on the enterprises' existing products, help them overcome technical difficulties, upgrade their products, and facilitate their market entry.
