On October 15, 2025, to thoroughly implement the deployment of Guangzhou's "12218" modern industrial system construction and accelerate the cultivation of future industries such as cutting-edge new materials, the Policy Briefing Session on the 2026—2027 Guangdong Provincial Key Areas R&D Program "Laser and Additive Manufacturing" Special Project was successfully held in Guangzhou. Hosted by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology and the Bureau of Science, Technology, Industry and Information Technology of Liwan District, Guangzhou, and co-organized by the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute and other institutions, the event aimed to help innovative entities such as enterprises, universities, and research institutes accurately grasp the application requirements of the special project, seize opportunities for innovative research, and promote the high-quality development of the laser and additive manufacturing industry.
Focus on Dual Drivers of Policy and Technology,
Construct a Full-Chain Guidance System
At the start of the event, a representative from the Bureau of Science, Technology, Industry and Information Technology of Liwan District delivered a speech on local industrial support policies. They systematically interpreted Liwan District's package of supporting measures for fostering the laser and additive manufacturing industry, relying on the "1+9" policy matrix and the upcoming "Several Policies for Promoting the Innovative Development of the Laser and Additive Manufacturing Industry". The measures cover key areas such as financial support, platform construction, and talent cultivation, providing policy guidance for enterprise development.

On-Site Scene
Subsequently, Yang Yongqiang, President of the Guangdong Additive Manufacturing Association, interpreted the application guidelines for the 2026—2027 Guangdong Provincial Key Areas R&D Program "Laser and Additive Manufacturing" Special Project. He explained to the participating units the application requirements, online application methods, review and approval rules, application timeline, and specific contents of 3 themes and 11 research directions. He also shared key notes on application entities, team formation, application management, and project quota restrictions.
Addressing practical application issues concerned by enterprises, Wei Wenqiu, Deputy Director of the Industry Research Office of the Guangdong Productivity Promotion Center, detailed the key points of full-process management for the special project application. Covering three core modules—basic application requirements, methods to improve approval success rate, and full-process management policies—he explained each key link one by one, helping application entities improve the quality of their applications.

Policy Briefing on the Laser and Additive Manufacturing Industry
At the event, Ms. Luo Lan, Project Director of the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute, introduced the institute's basic overview, talent team, R&D directions, and platform resources, and promoted its achievements. Based on cutting-edge science and technology, the institute closely aligns with national strategic needs and industrial development trends, aiming to drive innovation and breakthroughs in the field of additive manufacturing and provide new momentum for accelerating the development of new quality productive forces.
