3D-Printed Puppies & Rock-Paper-Scissors with Robotic Hands! This Robot Science Popularization Event Is a Blast
2025-08-28Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research

On August 27, the "Explore the Wonderful World of Robots – Robot Science Popularization Series Events Entering Communities", guided by the Bureau of Science, Technology, Industry and Information Technology of Liwan District, Guangzhou and hosted by the Guangzhou Future Additive Manufacturing Research Institute, kicked off in a lively atmosphere at Dongjiao Sub-district. Through a variety of engaging formats including interesting lectures, physical exhibits and interactive games, this event led community teenagers to lift the veil of mystery surrounding robots and plant the seeds of scientific and technological innovation in their minds.

The Instructor Introduces Robotic Products

At the start of the event, Teacher Liang from the institute posed the question "What kinds of robots are there around us?", instantly heating up the atmosphere. Then, following the main theme of "A Time Travel of the Robot Family", he showcased the Bambu Lab A1 3D Printer, fin gripper robot, 3D-printed cable-driven robotic hand and negative pressure pneumatic muscle to the children and adults present, drawing bursts of amazement from the audience. "This can print different shapes!" "I can feel how powerful robots are!" said the participating children.

The Venue Is Filled with Excitement

The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the "magic demonstration" of the 3D printer. A 3D printer was methodically printing a mysterious puppy model. The instructor invited the children to observe and guess what the model was. The kids were full of enthusiasm, gathering around the device to watch intently and discuss actively. The event also included a fun quiz session to deepen the children’s understanding of the core robotic characteristics of 3D printers—programmability, automation and precise execution.

Observing Robotic Products Up Close

Several interactive mini-games were arranged at the event. "Fin Gripper Message Relay Challenge" and "Fin Gripper Attack & Defense Battle" allowed the children to get up close and experience the functions of multiple "organs" of the fin gripper robot, such as the visual sensor and pressure sensor. "Robotic Hand Rock-Paper-Scissors Challenge" enabled the children to personally operate the robotic hand for human-machine duels, experiencing robot technology firsthand.

Human-Machine Interaction

This "Robots Entering Communities" science popularization event transformed professional scientific knowledge into easy-to-understand language and highly entertaining experiences. It narrowed the distance between teenagers and robot technology, stimulating their interest in scientific exploration.
